Maggie is a seventeen year old girl who’s had a bad year. Her mom left, her dad is depressed, she’s graduating, barely, and her boyfriend of almost three years dumped her for a college football scholarship. Lately she thinks life is all about hanging on by a thread and is gripping tight with everything she has.
Then she meets Caleb.
She saves his life and instantly knows there’s something about him that’s intriguing but she is supposed to be on her way to a date with his cousin. But things change when they touch, sparks ignite. Literally. They imprint with each other and she sees their future life together flash before her eyes. She learns that not only is she his soul mate, and can feel his heartbeat in her chest, but there is a whole other world of people with gifts and abilities that she never knew existed. She herself is experiencing supernatural changes unlike anything she’s ever felt before and she needs the touch of his skin to survive. Now, not only has her dad come out of his depression to be a father again, and a pain as well, but Caleb’s enemies know he’s imprinted and are after Maggie to stop them both from gaining their abilities and take her from him. Can Caleb save her or will they be forced to live without each other after just finding one another?
First off I want to thank, NetGalley for sending me a copy of this book. Now going into this book I did not expect to be giving it four stars but I really enjoyed it.
You meet Maggie on the day of her graduation explaining about what has happened to her life, which is nice because sometimes you don’t get their story right off that bat. Talking about how her life has changed since she became a senior in high school. From her mom leaving her and her dad behind, to her father going into depression, and how she practically stopped hanging out with her friends. Including the fact that her boyfriend of three years had dumped her to go off to college after graduation. She even finally agrees to go on a date with a friend of hers, Kyle Jacobson.
Then she leaves her house to go for a walk while she waits to go on the date, to end up seeing this guy in front of her waiting to cross the street. When he isn’t paying attention he starts to walk not knowing there is a car coming. So Maggie grabs him and saves his life. Immediately there is an attraction there between the both of them. The guy she happened to save is Kyle’s cousin, Caleb. Who happens to bring her over to the house. When Kyle comes outside to see them together. Then when she is about to leave with Kyle to go on their date, her and Caleb shake hands after introducing themselves when something happens. They imprint, which is weird for Maggie because she has no clue what happened since she’s only a human. Where as Caleb and Kyle are a part of a clan that has powers. A clan that hasn’t had anyone imprint in a long. Which isn’t the only weird thing, Caleb and Maggie are also the youngest to imprint with each other. Kyle right away is not pleased with the fact that Caleb and Maggie will now be together. When Maggie is his dream girl.
The Jacobson family takes Maggie in right away which is odd to her since, the only family Maggie has is her dad, who isn’t really there. Her mother left them and her adoptive brother lives in New York.Though she does have her co-workers at her job who treat her like she is a family member. Having Caleb’s family is a new change for her which she appreciates.
Reading the story I could not help but feel bad for Maggie. She went through a lot and she shouldn’t have had to. Going from being a normal teenage girl to taking care of herself and her father since no one else could. To then being pulled into this world that has turned her life upside down. That happens to have enemies who do not like the idea of a Jacobson and a human gaining this abilities before their clan has.
The one thing that I can think of that I disliked about the story was how everyone did not care too much that she dated Chad. I understand that they knew the relationship wasn’t going anywhere but still. Also I didn’t like that there was three guys who were in love with Maggie. I was fine with two because it is typical in stories but three is a little overboard. However, it is also something that I like. Confusing I know. My reason for liking it is because that there is always a love triangle but nothing more than that. I defiantly recommend anyone to read this book, and I plan on finish this series.
